

They give 25% MF in Chest Armor, Helms, or Shields. These give 30% MF, but only when inserted into a weapon slot. The Ist rune, which has a minimum iLvl/cLvl of 51, starts dropping in Hell difficulty. While these can go in any slot, they only offer Magic Find when placed in Helms or Body Armor. Instead of using lower-quality Topazes, hold out for Perfect Topazes, which give 24% MF. The two major Magic Find items to place in Sockets are Topazes or Ist runes. If the jewel has other great properties on it, by all means use it, but there are better choices for sockets in Magic Find sets.

If you somehow got an Emerald Jewel of Prosperity with top rolls, the best you'd still get is 17% MF. It can have an Emerald prefix, which can add 3-7%, or the Prosperity suffix, which gives 5-10%. Jewels are probably not worth considering for Magic Find sets because the maximum amount of Magic Find you can get on a rare-quality Jewel is below what you can get on the next best option. There are three types of items that can go into Sockets that can add to Magic Find: Jewels, Gems, and Runes. Magic or Rare Amulets, Boots, Circles, Gloves Magic Rings Magic or Rare Amulets, Boots, Circles, Gloves, Rings It is possible for an item to roll with both a MF prefix and suffix, but those are rare and would be restricted by item quality and gear type. You might find a high-roll Magic or Rare item that beat anything you can get in other items for that slot. Some only occur in Magic items, where only a maximum of 1 prefix/1 suffix is possible, and can be found on either Magic or Rare items (which can have up to 6 properties). A Magic Find random property is limited only to Amulets, Circlets, Rings, Boots, and Gloves, and not all of them apply to all types or quality levels.

On Magic or Rare items, there is a chance to get either a Prefix or Suffix that gives a boost to Magic Find. This does not include Charms those are handled in a separate section below.
